Girlz Code IT is a week-long camp designed to provide girls in grades 5 to 8 with explorations in design process and computer science skills needed to create worlds and games by coding with Microsoft Kodu. They will learn coding and game development focusing on character action and introductory programming concepts.

This program will focus on teaching girls in grades 4-6 the basics of computer programming using Scratch. Each day will include a new concept of computer science learned using a block-based coding language. We will also take field trips, including one to the California Science Museum and another to a start-up company in LA.

The program Reinvent IT allows students as young as 5th grade to gain experience that some will only learn in college. It allows them to have hands-on experience with creating their own app. Reinvent IT allows them to learn programming skills that intrigue them and develop their curiosity about the STEM field.

Genome Hackers integrates biological techniques with computer science. Participants will learn how to sequence a gene and use Python to analyze their gene to infer its ancestral history and structure. Participants will also design and present a poster to the University of Washington Genome Sciences department faculty, students, and staff.
