Programs

Girls entering the program take three core courses: computer science, cognitive science, and creativity. In these classes, they choose a real-world problem that they want to solve. By the end of their classes, they will have a working blueprint for an idea that can be prototyped and implemented.

Huskie Technopreneurs fosters technological skills through CS First/Scratch and a series of bootcamps to develop disadvantaged girls’ coding abilities. The girls personalize a UN Global Goal, developing and presenting their technological Scratch-based prototypes to peers and community leaders through an Expo. Workshops foster IT career interests.

“GIRLS” is a face-to-face and online workshop targeted to middle school minorities. They will learn the basics of programming and get hands-on experience writing Swift code. They will learn about the building blocks of an algorithm and how to use Swift programming to solve problems.

XX Coders is a program in Wyandanch teaching girls about computer science with the goal of closing the gender/racial gap and promoting diversity in the tech industry. Located a low-income area, this program will help girls understand how powerful computer science can be in achieving a vast number of life goals.
