Trumbull, CT
Oct 29, 2017 - Feb 11, 2018
If you're a girl in grades 6-12 who wants to learn the basics of creating mobile apps and games, join the TechnoTeens at the Trumbull Library! No experience necessary- just enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things! We're a program that offers project-based activities in a fun and creative environment, focused on teaching the basics of the coding language "Java". This is an ongoing program where each week builds on skills learned in previous weeks.

More About the Program

With the disparity between men and women in the Information Technology field, our ultimate goal is to get more girls involved with computer science. By:

  1. Offering girls a safe, comfortable, all-girl environment;
  2. Giving them access to communities of female engineers, scientists, and fellow aspirers; and
  3. Showing girls role-models who make a difference in the field,

we aim to inspire girls to close the gap between men and women in this field.

For TechnoTeens, all that we ask is that you bring in a laptop (and if you think you need it, a laptop charger). The library is willing to offer 5 tablets to whoever does not have access to a laptop, but if you do have one and you bring it in, that would be a huge help.

Most classes don't require anything besides a laptop, however remember: for the first session you will need to bring any waivers you have to sign.
