GCT is a non-profit organization meant to build knowledge of computer science for elementary school-aged students. Our program teaches the fundamentals of computer programming and technology using hands-on projects such as Scratch game design, animation, and Sphero robots to incite our students' creativity and curiosity in STEM.

More About the Program

We will be providing computers to all participants whether the program will take place in person or online in accordance with state regulation regarding Covid in summer of 2021. There will also be a raffle and prizes at the end of the session for our amazing programmers! The prize will be a surprise :)

Schedule

Week 1:  Projects 1 (Computer Art Design) and 2 (Interactive Story Animation) and Family Coding Day!

The first week we will be learning if-then statements, forever loops, variables and de-bugging with fun hands-on projects. We end the week with Family Coding Day where you can invite any and all family members and friends to learn to code using Code.org!

Week 2:  Projects 3 (Robotics Challenge) and 4 (Game design and build your own controller)

The second week we will learn more complex programming functions such as nested loops, methods, parameters and digital citizenship. We will end the session with a talk with computer scientists about education and career opportunities in STEM!
