LatinXplorers in Tech is a program for girls in our borderland community to explore tech in a fun and safe environment. Our vision is to create a programming club for Latina girls to work on coding projects in the areas they are passionate about, by combining tech, engineering, art, and science.

This is an online program; Google Meet will be used to meet with the participants virtually.

Schedule

  • Session 1:
    Why Coding? and How to talk to your computer. 
    In this lesson, we will talk about the importance of technology in our daily lives, as well as the history of computer science and the females that have revolutionized this field.
    Coding using blocks. 
     
  • Session 2:
    AR/Virtual Reality
    This lesson will focus on developing the student's creativity as well as using programming skills to code using JavaScript and Blockly.
  • Session 3:
    Digital Art and Design
    The invention of 3-D printing has opened doors in the world of programming and design. This lesson will teach students how programming is also useful in other fields, like architecture and fashion design. They will learn how these printers work, allowing designers to create elaborate lightweight objects, and how the printers transform abstract code into solid shapes. Students will create their own 3-D design. 

    Websites and Mobile Apps
    Bootstrap is a collection of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript tools for creating and building web pages and web applications. This lesson will teach students how to create a simple website by learning new code skills.
