Kodergirl empowers middle-school girls in the Dallas and Weatherford area to learn how to code through camps. This summer, we will be hosting a 3-day web development camp that will teach HTML, CSS, and Javascript. At the end of the camp, campers will be able to build and present their own websites and hear women in industry speak.

More About the Program

Our program aims to teach middle school girls how to build interactive websites using HTML, CSS, and Javascript using resources on Khan Academy.

By the end of the program, we hope that the girls will accomplish the following goals:

1) Learn how to code in HTML, CSS, and Javascript through hands-on activities and our final project

2) Make new friends in the CS community by participating in group projects and games each day

3) Be empowered to pursue other computer science opportunities in the future by inviting women in the technology industry  and university CS students from UT Dallas, one of the top 50 schools in the nation according to csrankings.org

Girls in the rural Texas area will connect to the camp via satellite in a Poolville ISD or Perrin-Whitt ISD computer lab. High school leaders and educators in the area will be trained to serve as teaching assistants there.
