Girls the Coders is a 5-class program for middle school girls. Using Scratch, the girls will develop both computational thinking and programming skills by creating their own animated stories and games. They will also explore various IT career paths with the guidance of female IT professionals.

Using Lego NXT EV3 kits, participants of the program will build their own robots and learn how to code them. Additionally, with the integration of field trips, specialist speakers, group discussions, and STEM related activities, the participants will be given the opportunity to delve deeper into their own specific interests.

Bytes of Code is an outreach program supported by Santa Ana Public Library, focusing primarily at underserved girls in sixth through eighth grades in the Santa Ana and Tustin school districts. We are offering coding and interactive robotic workshops in a fun environment with a potential visit to high-tech companies.

The #innovate program will introduce middle-school girls to a variety of different coding languages through the use of Spheros, Scratch, Thunkable, HTML, and integrated JavaScript. Engaging workshops and an emphasis on innovation and creativity will pique the participants' interest in computer science and encourage them to pursue it further.

Future ITGirls serves 3rd-5th graders at Sonoma Elementary School as an after-school program to explore STEM and its applications. Participants will learn CS concepts syntax, sorting, and artificial intelligence through Scratch, Dance and Sphero as well as a research project about the Rio Grande River in New Mexico.
