Schedule

During the 10 days of this program, girls will advance through beginner programming to creating their own projects.

Meeting 1: Introductions, program goals, and introduction to the technology that we are using.

Meeting 2-8: Learn Python, Java, and HTML/CSS through the websites we have in our curriculum. Teachers will spend 1-on-1 time with the girls and partner work will help the participants talk through ideas for what they want to do in their final project, which will address a social concern.

Meetings 6, 7, 8: Will feature guest speakers from the industry who are women to share their experience about computer science. These speakers range from retired software engineers talking about their journey to the possible dangers of technology/the internet.

Meeting 9: Field trip to New York City to see the Google Headquarters. Get to talk to a panel of Google employees as well as do a workshop with the company.

Meeting 10: Present to each other the final projects, pizza party, how to stay connected with each other and CS, and goodbyes!
